Your Agent Shouldn’t Have to Wait on the Carrier to Get Paid

Carrier payment timelines and agent expectations don’t always line up. An agent closes a policy, does the work, and — reasonably — expects to see it on their next check. But if the carrier statement hasn’t come in yet, a rigid commission system leaves you with two bad options: make the agent wait, or track the payment manually outside the software and hope you remember to true it up later.

Agent Commission Advances gives you a third option. From the policy screen, click Agent Advance, select the agent, and enter an amount — either a flat dollar figure or a percentage of the policy’s Estimated Premium. Set the Receive Date to control which pay period it lands in, save, and the agent is paid, full stop, independent of whether the carrier’s statement has arrived yet.

What makes this safe to use routinely, rather than as an exception-only workaround, is the accounting behind it. Every advance automatically posts an equal and opposite entry to The House account, so the money isn’t appearing from nowhere — it’s sourced from the agency’s own retained earnings until the carrier payment catches up. Your totals stay balanced whether you’re advancing a commission or deducting one.

The same tool runs in reverse. Need to deduct an office fee, a marketing charge, or a technology cost from an agent’s earnings? Enter the advance as a negative amount and it flows through the same mechanism, showing up on their ACE Report as a clear deduction rather than a mystery gap in their statement.

Because advances aren’t tied to a carrier receipt, they won’t show up in Payment History — they live on the Agent Commissions Earned report instead, filterable by transaction type so you can audit them separately whenever you need to.

Paying agents shouldn’t be hostage to carrier timelines. Agent Commission Advances makes sure it isn’t.
